In the lead up to Dyslexia Awareness Week (June 16-22), we've created a groundbreaking initiative for New Zealand. We're giving all Kiwi teachers the opportunity to have their say on the challenges of dealing with dyslexia in the classroom via a quick and easy online survey.

As well as giving teachers a voice, the survey will provide up-to-date information, which we'll share with respondents, our members and the Ministry of Education, and create an important benchmark for the future.

The survey, which has been developed in conjunction with ACNielsen, is user-friendly and takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Together we can effect change for the 70,000 New Zealand children with this alternative way of thinking.

• Be one of the first to complete the online survey and get a free DVD!

Our online survey is live now and we're giving the first 350 teachers who complete it a copy of Taare Zameen Par - a delightful movie about a young boy's struggle with dyslexia and the teacher who turned his world around. This DVD tells the story of dyslexiain an imaginative way making it a perfect classroom and staff room discussion starter. Share it around but don't forget the tissues.
